What’s New? Nothing

Semi-Random thought #1: Sometimes I feel that maybe I am good. As in smart kinda thing. Did you know I was recently promoted at work? I’ve only been working there for 8 months and I got promoted. It usually takes about 2 years to be promoted. I don’t think I’m that good, but I guess I did well. Another reason why I got promoted is because I’m old. Well it’s about time all those work experience mean something and help met get higher on whichever ladder I climb. Ah well, just a thought.

Semi-random thought #2: I recently got a Wii. It was actually fun. So far I only have two games, the Wii Sports that’s included in the bundle, and Rayman: Raving Rabbids game.

Wii Sports – It’s fun. Although sometimes the remote and sensor are not cooperating well. I’m surprised I’m enjoying playing golf. Of course it’s easier when playing it at Wii. I also liked boxing, but man, I’m so out of shape, my arms and shoulders got tired after the game. But at least I knocked my opponent down. I’m like FPJ, one punch after the other. Ratatatatat…

Rayman: Raving Rabbids – This is downright cute and hilarious. The rabbids are CRAZY!!!! The games are creative and funny. They look easy but it requires a lot of hand-eye coordination. Also, there are so much stimuli going on that distracts you from concentrating on your tasks. It’s really fun (and stupid)! I have to save up so I can buy another Rabbid game, and a Wii board. One of them rabbid games require Wii board. I bet those are fun.

Semi-random thought #3: I watched Monty Phyton’s Spamalot musical a couple of weeks ago. I’ve seen the movie too. They modified the movie a bit, but it was still lots of fun. It was highly enjoyable. However, there were people who could not quite get the humor they even left during the intermission. Oh well, can’t please anyone.

Alright, enough updates. Hope everyone is doing well.

Year End Update? Nah…

I know, I haven’t been writing lately. I just don’t feel like it, that’s why. I haven’t had any interesting to tell, if I did, I forgot about them already. Here are two things I’ve been thinking of writing about:

Chicago and the Revolving Doors

A couple of years ago I blogged my observation that Chicago is obsessed with revolving doors. It’s only a couple of weeks ago, during one of those friggin’ below freezing days, that I realized why. It’s a simple as… “so the cold air won’t get inside the building when someone goes in”, or more accurately, when someone enters a building, cold air coming in will be minimized, or something like that. Got it? See, this is why I don’t blog anymore, I became stupider, don’t know why.

Second reason for blogging, well I thought of this just now, is I need help. Yes, my dear friends, I need help. I am looking for a (preferably) (e) copy of Nick Joaquin’s magnificent works: Pop Stories for Groovy Kids, both the Green and Orange series. We have that back home, but I don’t live home anymore (and not sure if my parents kept them still) :( I tried looking at Amazon, but it was being sold by some seller for $49.95, and that’s just for the Green series. I dunno, I guess I just want to share it with a good friend. Someone who may be interested in Filipino culture. Anyho, if anyone knows where I could get copies of these, please, please, please, let me know. :D

Remember these stories (found these titles here: http://www.librarything.com/topic/3168)?

Haaay, good ol’ days.

By the way, today is Rizal’s day. I got all mushy and sentimental and thought about reading Noli and Fili. I don’t know, maybe now that I’m much older I can probably “understand” and appreciate it than back in the days. Who knows?

Ok, that’s it for now. Thanks for reading. :)

How’s everyone doing? Hope all is well. Been kinda busy lately and nothing to write about really. I dunno. Anyway, tomorrow (11/12) is the Normal Distribution’s 275th birthday. Heard it from some ultimate nerdy that…

The normal distribution first appeared in a 7 page printed note in Latin

Approximatio ad Summam Terminorum

Binomii in Seriem Expansi

Autore A.D.M.R.S.S.*

November 12, 1733

*i.e., Abraham De Moivre, Socius of the Royal Society

and in its English translations in the 1738 and 1756 editions of De Moivre’s The Doctrine of Chances.

So, to our beloved Normal Distribution, for making our lives a lot easier, for making the abstract seem… less scary, and for being born…. Happy Birthday to you! May normality continue to rule the world making lives simpler and friendster relationships a little less complicated. Cheers!!!

(Darn, i hope there is a way to turn off my trackpad, it’s really sensitive and so annoying).

My new addiction

Alas! I finally made it! I was able to install Ubuntu on my computer, and yes, I guess I would say I’m a linux convert! I think I’m still far from being truly addicted (i.e. customizing, modifying, and whatnots-ing my OS). But I would say that, yes, Linux (well, at least Ubuntu) is way cooler (and extremely faster) than Windows. Although there are still ‘kinks’ here and there, i still find it cooler than windows! Bwahahahahahahhahahahahh!!!

I recently discovered another brand of mineral make-up from a friend, it’s called Everyday Minerals. It was so cool so you can order free makeup samples, you just need to pay for the shipping! Although the sizes are very small, it is still fine.

I got so excited browsing the website that before I got my free samples, I ordered another kit! This time, the make up sizes are larger and I got a brush and a mixing container.

So weeks after finally using the make up here’s some kind of review/feedback I have:

  • Cheaper than the first mineral make up I used (if you don’t use much blush or eye make up, you can just order the smallest size. No need to buy the big size unless you love that shade/color that you want to eat it.)
  • Free samples
  • Tons of colors/shades/shiny vs matte to choose from and it seems that they are continuously expanding their selection for the consumer’s delight.
  • Mix and match your colors to achieve a more suitable colors for your fez.
  • I saw a review on youtube, and this girl said that b.e.’s has more finely milled minerals than everyday minerals. I say it’s true. However, I neither she nor I see it as a problem. You’ll get to mix the minerals and they will be parted (sorry, couldn’t think of a better term) eventually.
  • When applying the make up, it sticks to your face easily and the color is very visible unlike b.e. I don’t know if this is a good thing or not. I guess it depends. At first, my face came out too light. I guess I put too much foundation on my face, I looked like an espasol. Hehehe. As I learned to apply the make up, the result is not that bad.
  • The foundation colors I got are too light! This is probably my fault. I should’ve gotten a darker shade. Maybe I will get one and see its effect by itself vs combining the dark and lighter shade. I guess my skin falls between the fair-medium and tan complexion.
  • I guess their color guide is misleading which led me to buy foundation that are much lighter shade than my skin.
  • Like b.e., the longer the mineral make up stays on my face, the better my face looks. I guess what they advertise is right, it helps improve your complexion (or it’s just my illusion!).
  • Also, even if I thought I put a lot of make up, my face tends to absorb it and after an hour or so, I just look like I have nice healthy complexion. :)

So far that’s all I can think of (because I got distracted). All in all, I like and I may get some more. mwahahahahahahahah….

Awww… shucks…

I remembered that the next installment of the Song of Fire and Ice is due this Fall. Unfortunately, G.R.R. Martin wasn’t able to meet his deadline. There is a rumor that it may be released in April 2009. On the positive side, I still have a long time to finish reading Feast for the Crows.

Villains and Coolness

Oh boy, Heroes officially started Volume III: Villains last night. Two fresh episodes were shown back-to-back. Woot! I’m happy again!

Oh, I think I chose Tagalog as my blogging language here at wordpress, and what a surprised. When I checked my blog today, some of the titles and what not are in Tagalog! Kewl!

Refined Cat?

Gee, this cat is way better than me in using a fork and chopsticks to eat!!! Coolness!

Light Pollution

I’ve always thought I never see the stars in this part of the world. One night, as I was doing my laundry, I went out to the “rooftop” of our building and looked at the cloudless sky. Wow, I saw the stars but, they are very very faint? Why? I told this to a friend and asked why. The friend suggested it may be due to light pollution. There’s too much light in the city, probably making the sky bright and the stars faint. Ok, but how about the stars above the lake? It’s pitch black out there but I still couldn’t see the stars? Could it still be part of the effect of light pollution? Who knows?

Oh yeah, I changed the image header in my blog. I thought it would be more appropriate. Don’t you think so? Hehehe…
