I know, I haven’t been writing lately. I just don’t feel like it, that’s why. I haven’t had any interesting to tell, if I did, I forgot about them already. Here are two things I’ve been thinking of writing about:
Chicago and the Revolving Doors
A couple of years ago I blogged my observation that Chicago is obsessed with revolving doors. It’s only a couple of weeks ago, during one of those friggin’ below freezing days, that I realized why. It’s a simple as… “so the cold air won’t get inside the building when someone goes in”, or more accurately, when someone enters a building, cold air coming in will be minimized, or something like that. Got it? See, this is why I don’t blog anymore, I became stupider, don’t know why.
Second reason for blogging, well I thought of this just now, is I need help. Yes, my dear friends, I need help. I am looking for a (preferably) (e) copy of Nick Joaquin’s magnificent works: Pop Stories for Groovy Kids, both the Green and Orange series. We have that back home, but I don’t live home anymore (and not sure if my parents kept them still) :( I tried looking at Amazon, but it was being sold by some seller for $49.95, and that’s just for the Green series. I dunno, I guess I just want to share it with a good friend. Someone who may be interested in Filipino culture. Anyho, if anyone knows where I could get copies of these, please, please, please, let me know.
Remember these stories (found these titles here: http://www.librarything.com/topic/3168)?
Lilit Bulilit and the Babe-in-the-Womb
Sarimanok Vs. Ibong Adarna
How Love Came To Juan Tamad
The Hamiling Mystery
Johnny Tinoso and the Proud Beauty
Going to Jerusalem
The Four Little Monkeys Who Went To Eden
The Adventures of Culas-Culasito
The Happiest Boy in the World
The Amazing History of Elang Uling
Haaay, good ol’ days.
By the way, today is Rizal’s day. I got all mushy and sentimental and thought about reading Noli and Fili. I don’t know, maybe now that I’m much older I can probably “understand” and appreciate it than back in the days. Who knows?
Ok, that’s it for now. Thanks for reading.
Huy!!! Kamusta ka na bruheh, happy new year! Hope you enjoyed the holidays, dito sa Pinas isang linggo mahigit nagbakasyon kasi maraming ipit na araw dineclare na lang na holiday lahat.
Naku, sensya na di ko alam saan makakakuha ng book na sinasabi mo, I don’t even think I ever got to read it, walang kwenta talaga haha! Anyway, I do hope you find it.
I’m looking for one too since I’ve seen the original artworks of the pages exhibited at Museo Pambata. I loved this book when I was a kid (dunno where our copy is now) and want to read it to my kids.
I think (but not sure) I found one at bookmark bookstore main branch, I’ll check it out again and will let you know. Popular bookstores in the Phils like National, Powerbooks, etc, don’t have it. It was published I979, dunno if they still print it. Searching the net, I found out it was published by Mr.&Ms. I’ve a friend who used to work there, will ask her tom.
hi i was wondering if you ever found that nick joaquin book that youve been looking for. i was looking for the same thing.
sorry for the super late reply. i haven’t found these books yet. i haven’t been actively looking, unfortunately. i hope someone has found it.
